Save a Buck, Great Finds at the Dollarstore!

This might sound surprising, but one of my favorite stores is THE DOLLAR STORE. 

I understand, this is weird and so not fashionable. It's probably one of the most tacky things ever.

However, I think people under estimate how wonderful the dollar store really can be. It's a great way to save money and get little things that you might want or need. Plus, it's great for this time of year with trying to save money, but still be fashionable as well as giving.

Here are some of the best finds at the dollar store. Specifically I'm going to be talking about The Dollar Tree.

1. Gift Decoration Products




At the dollar store, especially around this time of year, there are bags, wrapping paper, tissue paper, bows, tape, boxes and so much more that you can use to put your gifts in. Compare that to Walmart who for a roll of paper might charge $3, not including tax. And that is for a cheap roll. You can get your tape, wrapping paper, and a bag of bows for that amount at the dollar store. They also have really beautiful and cute gift bags for your presents. And it's not just around Christmas, they have great stuff for birthdays too!

2. Kitchen Products


I get so many great things for my dorm in regards to the kitchen at the dollar store. You can get great cups, mugs, glasses, and plates just for a dollar each! Skip on the silverware, you can get a pack of 4 at Walmart for 98 cents. They even have stuff that you would normally pay $6 to $8 for like cookie and cupcake trays. Tupperware containers, can openers, water bottles, funnels, you name it I'm sure that they have it. The only things they don't have are drying racks for your dishes and actual pots and pans to cook with.

3. Nail Polish and Hair Products



Instead of spending almost $10 for your nail polish or headbands, why not just pick some up at the dollar store? They are pretty long lasting, cute, and, duh, cheap! And I don't mean cheap as in quality. I am currently wearing a headband I got from the dollar store about 2 years ago. It's still working! I also have hair brushes and nail polishes still from the dollar store that work just fine. Plus nail polish makes great gifts for girls so you can stock up on some of them and give them to your friends. They'll think you spend almost $30 on them when it was actually only $5. Plus they have great little nail polishes that you can use to make designs, they are my absolute favorite.

4. Birthday Items



If you want to surprise your friend with a big gaggle of balloons on her birthday, don't go to Party City. Way to expensive. Instead go to the dollar store. They have helium balloons there and you can get a lot! You can also get great cards that normally would be 2 or 3 bucks. If you have a child or younger sibling then you can get little party favors for his or her friends who come to the party at the dollar store. And they come in packs so it's a great way to save money, but still look like a good party planner.

5. Books




Yes I know this might sound weird, but it is true. A lot of stores can't sell books so they either give them to Goodwill or sell them to a Dollar Store for cheap. There you can pick up the books for only one dollar! I've gotten great finds of young adult literature (which is my favorite) in dollar stores. They also have books for the little ones and coloring books too!

6. Cleaning Products



Don't spend a lot of money buying your cleaning products. Go to the dollar store. They have dish soap, sprays, detergent, brooms, mops, sponges, I can go on forever. This way instead of spending a lot of money on cleaning your house, which you shouldn't, you can spend money on you!

There are many other great advantages to going to the dollar store. These are just a few. There are great little gifts there for people you might not know very well, but still want to give them a little gift. They also have great products for guys, not just girls. Stuff for their cars or for their electronics. It's really awesome.

So be sure not to just a book by it's cover, or a store by it's price point.
